While it may not be at the top of most people’s list of best breakfast items, starting your day with a bowl of organic oatmeal will kick-start your day with a nutritious bang!

Oatmeal is not just your average breakfast option. It’s a superfood. Organic oats are free of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, making them a healthier choice. Plus, they’re packed with essential nutrients like fiber, protein, and a whole bunch of vitamins and minerals, without all the junk we typically get in other breakfast options.

Start your morning with a warm bowl of organic oatmeal, perhaps with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. With each spoonful, you are fueling up your body with slow-burning carbs. This means sustained energy levels that keep you energized throughout the day.

We often hear that “carbs are BAD!” But that’s really not the truth. Some carbs are bad, like pure sugars and processed flour, as we find in most store-bought cereals, breads, and cakes. These bad carbs turn into bad fats and clog up our liver without providing any significant nutritious value. However, complex carbs are actually very good and nutritious for you. They can even help you significantly lose weight without any of the dangerous side effects of extreme diets. I've personally lost over 30 lbs by switching to this delightful breakfast routine. Plus, oatmeal doesn't have any cholesterol, trans-fats, or saturated fats. So, it's a very heart-healthy option, an important factor for me since I was prone to high cholesterol.

Another thing that makes oatmeal such a great option is that it’s a blank canvas, allowing for creativity and variety. You can add in almost any item to increase nutrition or taste or both.

Here’s a list of my typical morning bowl. But feel free to get creative!

1.    Organic high-protein oatmeal [3-4 tbsp]

2.    Oat bran (high in fiber, omega-3s, and more filling) [1 tbsp]

3.    Flax seeds or flax powder (high in fiber and omega-3s) [1 tbsp]

4.    Greens powder (highly nutritious and blends in nicely) [1 tsp]

5.    Stevia*(healthy artificial sweetener) [1 tsp]

6.    Peanut butter** or almond butter** (high in good fats) [1 tbsp]

7.    Vanilla extract (healthy flavor enhancer) [1 tsp]

8.    Cinnamon (reduces inflammation and circulation plus flavorful) [2 tsp]

9.  Nutmeg (reduces inflammation and circulation plus flavorful) [1 tsp]

10.  Cardamon (reduces inflammation and circulation plus flavorful) [1 tsp]

11.  Blackberries, raspberries, and/or blueberries (all highly nutritious, low glycemic)

12.  Banana (for optimal nutritious benefits, choose berries or banana) [whole]

For speed and simplicity, I mix all the ingredients in a bowl with about 1 cup of water and then place it in the microwave for about 1.5 minutes. Once it's done, I re-mix it, add the berries or banana, and enjoy! Super easy, super quick, super nutritious.

You can also add many other healthy choices that will greatly enhance the nutrition or taste. Consider adding these alternatives,

1. Raw, organic, local honey [1 tbsp]

2. Avacado slices [half]

3. Kiwi slices [whole]

4. Maca root (nutritious with a nutty, sweet aroma) [1 tsp]

5. Apple slices [half]

6. protein powder or collagen peptide powder (extra boost of nutrition)

7. organic fiber powder (extra nutrition)

8. mushroom complex powder

9. chopped walnuts or other tree nuts

10. a dash of raw cocoa*** (chocolate powder without sugar) [1/8 tsp]

So, the next time you’re pondering over breakfast options, remember that a bowl of organic oatmeal is like giving your metabolism an oil change.

Stay healthy, Love God, Serve others!

*Stevia is typically mixed with Erythritol as a filler. Some studies suggest that a high intake of this filler can be harmful for some. So, if you would prefer a safer and healthier option, you can buy stevia in pure extract form. However, it is very strong. You must use only a tiny amount or it will overpower everything else.

**Most peanut butter or almond butter is made with a ton of sugar. This is not good for you. So, you must use brands that do not add sugar. Remember, sugar is not your friend when it comes to health and nutrition!

***Raw cocoa is quite bitter. Chocolate is tasty because it's normally full of sugar. So, you should start with a very small amount and work up until you find the right balance.
